An Ode To True Voices In Kabul

So many are still lost in the noise

Someone is trying to speak to me
Telling a story so very strange
To ears not accustomed to listening,
Of lands and of peoples so far away
And cultures I still do not understand.
Justice and freedom’s unwelcome demands,
The call for the simplest of human rights
Not close to won, teetering in the pitch of the fight.
